Adult Appétit! Black Eyed Peas and the African Diaspora with Mariah-Rose Marie Online
Join us online to make kunde, a Kenyan black eyed pea stew. During this cooking demonstration, Mariah-Rose Marie (she/they) will discuss the role of black eyed peas in cooking of the African diaspora, including their own family.
This recipe is vegan-friendly. See the attached ingredient list (PDF) to follow along. Note: Black eyed peas should be cooked before the demo begins.
Mariah-Rose Marie is an award-winning writer, illustrator and educator whose work can be found on Netflix and HBO Max, in The New Yorker and in the nonfiction comics periodical The Nib. Her new book, Cook Like Your Ancestors, is a fully illustrated, beginner-friendly guide to intuitive cooking.
